This kitesurfing paradise in Mexico is located northwest of the city of Cancun (2 hrs.), Holbox (‘black hole’ in Yucatecan Mayan) is a small island in the State of Quintana Roo, located on the north coast of the Yucatan peninsula.
The island is separated from the coast or mainland of Mexico by a shallow lagoon that provides a sanctuary for many pink flamingos, pelicans, and some other exotic birds and animals.
The community of Holbox Island is practically dedicated to fishing.
It is normal to see fishermen walking around town with fishing nets and their catch of the day.
All the streets of Holbox are white sand, distinctive of the Caribbean islands.
The Island is known as a virgin tourist destination because it is not a very saturated point, despite the incredible natural wonders of Holbox, access has made the island something only for connoisseurs of good tourism.
